I was looking at my intake off my 67 gt350. Says ofenhauser on the bottom, stamped in. Has the large letter Cobra on the top front and the S2MS number at the rear. Is this an original?

I know the later 67's had an S7MS intake. Maybe the early ones had the S2MS. I'm not sure.

Most likely you have an original intake on your 67.

Randy, You have a correct Shelby intake. Offenhauser was one of the supplier's that Shelby used for intake's. The Offenhauser name was supposed to be ground down before install but this procedure was often overlooked. I have seen partial grind's to no grind mark's at all on these intake's. HTH.

Thanks guys. Now I just need to refinish it. I'm thinking of using plastic media instead of glass bead. Seems like the glass bead makes it too shiny.

I know this is a long shot (old post). I am doing some research on Cobra & Tiger intake manifolds and if possible would like a picture of the"Offenhauser" marking on the Cobra intake.
    Thanks, David Franchi

Actually, Buddy Bar did the bulk of Shelby's intakes. Art Francis could have possibly done a few. I have never seen or heard of any original Shelby intakes done by Offy. Hope this helps. Regards, TI

I have been doing research since I posted and found the following:

This site 1965GT350Mustang (see link, near the bottom) states the GT350 intakes were made by Offenhauser.
    .

    .
I have found that only early Cobra and Tiger high rise intakes are marked "OECO" for Offenhauser Equipment Company on the underside casting riser stand.(see photo links)

It appears later manifolds with a "Shelby" logo are marked Buddy Bar. I have only found a couple manifolds so far (shown on eBay,etc.) with the Buddy Bar marking. No standard "Cobra" or "Shelby" single 4 barrels have been noted yet. Just a 429 manifold and the below manifold.

    .
Could be Shelby switched from Offenhauser to Buddy Bar when he sold the "Cobra" name to Ford? Anyone have a Cobra manifold (1965) S1MS 9424A or (1966) S2MS 9424A with a Buddy Bar marking? or a later (1967) S7MS 9424A etc. Cobra intake with "OECO"?
    .
Randy (rcgt350) have you had a chance to get a picture of the Offenhauser marking on your intake?

Offenhouser Sales Corp. on Alhambra Avenue in Los Angeles. I used to work with them and confirmed it. Figures L.A. - just down the freeway from Carroll's place!

More pictures/info/questions on the "Offenhauser" marked "Cobra" lettered intakes.
Randy (rcgt350) supplied me with photos of his S2MS intake from his*1967 Shelby GT350. His is an early car (#0031). His intake is stamped "OFFENHAUSER" (see photo links below). Note the placement of the firing order numbering (on the front runner) on this early 1967 intake as compared to a S2MS 1966 intake (on back surface). It appears Shelby changed the firing order markings in late 1966 or early 1967. Are there late 1966 GT350 cars with the "1967 type" intake, or early 1967 cars with "1966 type" intakes. Also were any 1967 or 1968 GT350's equipped with a "Shelby" lettered S2MS intake (see photo link below), or is this strictly an "over the counter" manifold?
This may have already been discussed, but I couldn't find anything in the old posts.
