They were a semi-gloss primer grey.....sorta like today's grey epoxy primer. The new epoxy primers are also waterproff and will not allow rust as the old grey primers would. The centers were semi-flat black, also an epoxy primer color. Hope this helps

    Hey Lee,

That is what I was guessing - like a detail grey or what Rustoleum sells as
"Industrial Grey". Same color we use on GM shock absorbers. The original
paint is still on 4 of the wheels, but, pretty faded and chalky with some
    surface rust.

Chrome center caps and lugs, correct?

Does anybody have a picture of a car wearing these wheels? Curious to see
what my car will look like. Hopefully I won't be teased too badly for having
"primer" on my wheels and not bling bling chrome ones ;)

    Thanks!
    Colin

The older I get, the better *original* looks to me. Of course, that even
includes those 1950's *coral* & black two-tone paint schemes....

Bruce Turlington has four that were widened to 7" for autocross. You can probably source some photos of his 66 at speed many years ago in a place far away.....how 'bout it Calvin, any photos?

    Yeah cool pics in there.

I always wonder whatever happened with Jim Roberts:
    http://racecarstuff.com/photos/main.php?g2_itemId=2419
Wondered if he still had that car.

Al Taylor's car is being vintage raced today
    http://racecarstuff.com/photos/main.php?g2_itemId=2637
    http://racecarstuff.com/photos/main.php?g2_itemId=2631
    http://racecarstuff.com/photos/main.php?g2_itemId=2634
I can't remember the owner's name at the moment

Dave Redmond still owns Frank Likert's old '66
    http://racecarstuff.com/photos/main.php?g2_itemId=2461

Jeff Scarboro is drag racing a seriously fast '67 fastback tube frame
pro-stock style car. It runs 7 second 1/4 miles. This is one of his old
    '68's:
    http://racecarstuff.com/photos/main.php?g2_itemId=2470

    This is your/David Castle's old '66 A/Sedan Coupe:
    http://racecarstuff.com/photos/main.php?g2_itemId=2593
when Ronnie Yankee owned it. We are pretty sure it was a Shelby Coupe
    (post mortem).

This is Jimmy Brown's (now Andy Killian's) '65 (5S073) parked next to
Mom's '70 in the garages in Rockingham.

And this is Hank Lapointe at VIR in '73 when it rained and Bruce got his
    Shelby stuck in the mud.
    http://racecarstuff.com/photos/main.php?g2_itemId=2602

I got more old pictures I need to get scanned soon.
