    Greetings All,

Unfortunately, the day has come where I must replace the original positive battery terminal cable end on SFM 5025.

Of course, this is on a rear battery car, and I do not want to replace the entire cable (because it is original with all the unique factory rivits holding up the cable the entire length of the car)--hence the problem.

    Has anyone ever done this?

All I can think to do is to maybe buy a doner short positive battery cable and somehow uncrimp it and then somehow recrimp it back on? Or are maybe repops available uncrimped and uninstalled???

    I'm stumped--what do ya'll think?

Thank you very much in advance.

    Neil

Not sure if your end had the heat shrink or inserted into lead terminal without. Either way you'll need a crimper to crimp the lead onto the cable end. A hand crimper may work so you don't have to remove the cable just not sure how tight the hand crimper will do in place of a hydraulic crimp.

    Hi Neil,
I think Jim Cowles sells excellent positive connectors which you can
solder on to the end. Don't forget to put the shrink tube on first
and move a bit up the cable and then pull it over the end and treat it with a heat gun. Did this on my 65 many years ago but it was easier as the
cable was out of the car.
    Good luck.

Jim is the man with that stuff.
Can you post pix of the cable retainers and clips for the rest of the members?

    Mike,
Yes, and they fit very well and look great.
Not original, but what do you do when originals
can't be found for a price I could afford.
Also, as regards the tar top battery you asked about.
I bought a repo from a company that made a tar top
with reverse posts that I now use instead of the
original Sta-Ful on the picture which is dead.
Can't remember the name of the company but could probably
find it somewhere if you are interested. #17 probably need
the Ford post arrangemnt which is a standard part for the
company in question. My Cobra Vent Caps don't fit well in the repo
though so I may charge another dry charged green text battery I have
    24C.
