This is a test of the Emergency Broadcast Warning Sysytem.
For the next 30 seconds we will be conducting a test.
Remember this is only a test.

This has been a test of the Emergency Broadcast Warning System, if this had been an actual emergency you would have been told to hide.

Ok that's a first post, but tell us about yourself and your car.

Welcome John. I have not seen you in 16 or 17 years. Post some pics of your 68 and share some chili stories. :D

John, I have a low quality picture taken in the late 80's of us trying to get you old 67 Shelby of Waterford Hills race track when the rear axle slid out going through a corner.:lmao: Those were the days when we used and abused these cars.

Here is a good picture at Show N GO
Your old 67 on the right.

Thank you for your interest. I still own the '67. Before anyone asks about the lights, here's the story. When they were building the car they asked Shelby if they should use inboard or outboard lights. He didn't hear the question, so he just said, "Yes."

Here’s my story. I was working at an AT&T microwave site when I went into Spiker Ford Mercury with a friend to buy a generator bearing for his Falcon. I saw this 1968 GT500KR convertible on the showroom floor. I decided this was the car for me. I would have liked to have a 289 Cobra, but nobody was going to loan $4000 to a 21 year old kid for a used car. But a new car, with a cosigner, that was possible. Thanks mom.

I joined The Cobra Club in 1972 thinking someday I would own a Cobra, that my not happen. I joined SOA (Shelby Owners Association) in 1974 and went to their convention in Wichita, KS. It’s the only time the ’68 has been west of the Mississippi River. The Cobra Club was absorbed by SAAC when it started. I have attended every national convention and enjoyed every one of them. I have driven the ’68 to about half of them.

I am also a proud member of SAAC-MCR (Motor City Region).

The early ‘70’s is when I first discovered Carroll Shelby’s Original Texas Chili Mix. My mom’s idea of chili was hamburger mixed with Campbell’s Tomato Soup and kidney beans. She knew this stuff must be trouble since they packed Alka-Seltzer right in the bag. But I think my best contribution to the local club was to make chili part of events. I’ve been told there is a place at Bloomer State Park No. 2 where the grass still won’t grow because I spilled a pot of chili.

One last comment, the car is unrestored, when I take it to events people ask if I’m going to work on it. The day I picked it up at the dealership the fuse for the radio blew and I had to change it and I have been working on the car ever since then.

I haven't figured out how to attach a picture.

    John
