Carroll Shelby exhibit taking place in Spa City By: Capital News 9 web staff More than $6 million worth of cars will be on display starting Thursday at the Saratoga Automobile Museum. The nine-car Carroll Shelby exhibit includes Mustangs, Cobra roadsters, Daytona coupes, and, of course, the car the showcase is named after, the Shelby. Frank Gardner of the Saratoga Auto Museum said, "They started out to be race cars. Carroll Shelby wanted to do a Chevrolet-based car, and he couldn't do that because they already had the Corvette. So he did them using an English body and a Ford engine. It became an icon. To this day, there are companies all over the world that still make replicas of Carroll Shelby's first Cobras." The exhibit will run through March. The museum is open seven days a week until November, so you have plenty of time to check out what's under those hoods. www.capitalnews9.com
