Need to get the lower blue stripe kit for my 67 GT350. Can anyone reccomend who to buy one from? Are all of the vendors using the same kit as in who actually makes it? Jim Cowles has them,T.Branda NPD. Any suggestions? Also need concours spark plug wires and fan belts. AMK or NPD? Thanks Randy
The stripe kits I have bought from Branda have come in Fomoco boxes. But, I wish the supplier would have added an inch to each end. They are not as long as the original ones from 1967. They don't wrap all the way around the fender lip. If you buy direct from AMK, there is a $25.00 minimum. Max, the owner, has a 67 Shelby, so, support him. Plugwires: I'd suggest Marti auto works, but, NPD also has those little marker decals the 2-3 wires need in their catalog. I'm not sure Marti has them.
Hi Rod I figured I would get an answer back from you. I'll try AMK for the stripe kit. See what he has to offer. Max actually gave me the blueprint to have my flat gas cap adapter made a few years ago. Seems like a nice fellow. Will try Marti for the plug wires, belts and engine tag. Thanks Randy
I think most vendors are selling the same rocker stripe kits. They are made by 3M. Take your pick. On plug wires, you might want to try your local NAPA store. They carry a ignition wire set for "289 Special" in their Belden brand, part # 700105. Its pretty darn close to factory look. Regards, shlby66
I have a set of Lower Side Stripes that are Blue that I bought about 10 years ago from Branda. On the back of the Base Paper reads Avery. When you peel back the Base Paper, the Adhesive side of the Stripe is White but the face of the Stripe is Blue. I have never seen that before. This Stripe kit has three different Stripes for the front Fenders. One has a Solid Center Stripe, one has G.T. 350 and one has G.T. 500. I also have a set of Blue Stripes for a GT500 KR. The back of the Base Paper reads Scotchcal Marking Film 3M. When you peel back the Base Paper, the Adhesive side of the Stripe is Gray but the face of the Stripe is Blue. I have never seen that before either. Usually the whole stripe is one color all the way through. Both sets of Stripes, each stripe is Three separate pieces. The Avery set of Stripes gives you Three choices though.
Word of warning on stripe kits, I mean NOS, or old ones. The "sticky" backing seems to loose it's effectiveness over time if not put to use. So, it's not a great thing to leave these laying around, or, buying them for some way-in-the-future use.
RODDSTER, You are quite correct on NOS stripe kits. Once they are more than a few years old, they tend to lose their adhesive ability. It's a real bummer to try to get them to stick. Those NOS stripe kits still in the FORD box from the 60's looks cool in you display case, but don't bother trying to use them. shlby66.
