Ok, another interesting question. Anyone know how 67 GT350 cars were equipped with the horn button label. Some have Shelby cobra and some shelby cobra gt 350. Any pattern to these, early or later cars? Randy
I've been looking for the #00130 emblem. Is anyone reproducing it? I've got the wood wheel in my KR, so I'd like to have the emblem without GT500. Kenny
Howdy folks! the horn button you have described is yet another odd 67 feature..have noticed this type on cars, and have yet to see any pattern-early cars and G.T.350 cars seem to use this type the most, this should also be in the registry...There was a saac member trying to get some interest in producing them, but i dont think it ever got off the ground. If you find out more please keep us posted.Do the new steering wheels come with a horn button/or a choice of styles?
I have not seen a repo horn button, without the GT350/500 logo... I have rarely seen the Shelby Cobra only horn button....in 25 years of being around these cars....kinda like the running lights, and slanted one piece grills.. Mark
For the repro steering wheel I made some horn buttons were you can insert the 67 wheel center decal. I have some of them remaining. I do not sell the decals (copyright) but the plastic horn button. The wheel center decal you can get from every major parts vendor with a shelby licence. To make that clear: The repro horn button decals do all have the GT350 or GT500 designation. The wheel center decal does not have this designation. But this decal is approx. 2mm larger in diamter than the horn button decal, therefore you can not insert it into your original plastic horn button. With my horn button you can insert the wheel center decal. You can have the plastic horn button either with a gold or silver ring. They fit exactly into the original chrome bezel. You can get them from Dave Matthews (SAAC 67 shelby registrar).
The horn button emblem that only reads Shelby Cobra is the late service replacement that was produced so it would work on ether a GT500 or GT350 and so to lower parts inventory. The button marked Shelby Cobra was not used on early cars from the factory. The buttons had a tendency to break and had to be replaced which explains why they are seen on early and late cars.Bob G.
When I bought #1317 in June of 1977, it had a Shelby Cobra only horn button emblem. Some earlier owner had replaced it due to the fact that the GT500 had been converted to a GT350 look a like. Texas Swede
Bob is correct. Part numbers are as follows: G.T. 350, S7MS 3624-A G.T. 500, S7MS 3624-B G.T. 350 / G.T. 500, S7MS 3624-C
Just to add to the confusion... When I got the car in the mid 70's mine had a '66 style emblem. For what it's worth the seat belt buckles had the same. #0157 ...Mark
