Hi All , what number should I find under the engine bay aprons on a 69 Shelby , my title vin is correctly 9F02M48**** , should this be the number under the apron also , thanks
jarrah jack, The title VIN should match ervery VIN on the car. If not, then watch out. At first glance, your title VIN appears to be correct for a '69 G.T.350 SportsRoof/fastback.
The VIN on both inner fender aprons, underneath the fenders, should match the VIN on your title, door tag, and dash tag. Bill S.
Thanks for the replys , yep the vin is on the title, door and dash , and I had heard conflicting answers as to what would be on the aprons, so now I know if and when I strip it down for a paint I`ll know what to look for , thanks again . and yes it`s a GT350H
It will not be found on your aprons but on your shock towers under the fenders - Full vin not a shortened one
Thanks for replys , the curiosity got the better of me and as I am doing a engine bay makeover I removed the guards and all numbers match , thanks for information .
In my last reply I said All numbers match , but , on the drivers side there has been a repair to the front apron from rust , where the apron overlaps the shock tower the 2 panels were brazed together and now the ,,9 is gone and part of the f is hard to read , ALL other numbers are there , the passenger side is complete and easy to read , is this a problem , ?? thanks
Problem only because with it in the condition described it is a tell tale sign of the previous repair . It certainly will not be a positive . The 48 in the vin before the sequential number indicates 69 Shelby that along the sequential matching up with the windshield dash plate should put any question to rest. The door tag should match too but since it is not for registration it is not as important. The passenger side once the fender is on will disappear so take photo's for show and tell later.
