CARROLL SHELBY FOUNDATION & AUTOMOTIVE FINE ARTS SOCIETY MEMBER TOM FRITZ CELEBRATE A LEGEND

“Carroll Shelby” painting by Tom Fritz to help raise funds for the Carroll Shelby Foundation

GARDENA, Calif. – Sept. 5, 2012 – The Carroll Shelby Foundation and Automotive Fine Arts Society member Tom Fritz are joining forces this fall to honor one of the world’s most iconic automotive legends, Carroll Shelby, while also raising money for a worthy cause. As seen in Road & Track’s August 2012 issue, Tom Fritz's painting “Carroll Shelby” is officially licensed and now available to purchase as canvas print editions and posters, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Carroll Shelby Foundation.

“Carroll had a big heart for helping children and young adults,” said Jenni Shreeves, executive director of the Carroll Shelby Foundation. “His generosity is being noticed by enthusiasts like Mr. Fritz, who also want to help our mission and continue Carroll’s legacy of giving back to our youth. This keepsake painting from Mr. Fritz is an incredible piece of artwork that Shelby fans and art aficionados will want to add to their collection and pass down from generation to generation.”

Originally commissioned by Road & Track to create an art piece for its August 2012 issue, Tom Fritz captured the essence of Shelby’s past and present in his beautiful painting that was titled after the man who made the Cobra one of the most sought-after collector cars today. The painting, which is currently available in print and poster versions, was featured on the corkscrew turn of the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca during Monterey Collector Car Week in California this past August.

“Carroll's cars resonate with excitement and an energy that influences everyone,” added Fritz. “In my booth at Pebble Beach this August, I eavesdropped on an older gentleman showing his granddaughter my painting. As he answered her questions and shared with her a part of the dream, I became aware my painting was connecting generations and inspiring the next wave of enthusiasts.”

The canvas paintings, which are officially licensed by Carroll Shelby Licensing, are available in multiple sizes with prices ranging from $350 to $2,100; posters will be sold for $40. Those interested in purchasing the painting and/or posters can do so online by clicking here.

A native of the San Fernando Valley, Mr. Fritz received his formal training and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University Northridge. His works have been seen in publications such as Automobile Magazine, Automobile Classiques, Road & Track and Hot Rod. Today, as a member of the Automotive Fine Arts Society, he has won numerous awards for his oil paintings, including the Stanley Wanlass Award and the Strother MacMinn Award. Fritz is also the only artist to win the Automotive Fine Arts Society’s Peter Helck Award, also known as “best in show”, for six years in a row.

The Carroll Shelby Foundation was established by Mr. Shelby to provide financial support for children battling life-threatening illnesses and to promote continuing education.
