This is my first reply on this forum, being directed here recently by Coralsnake Pete. And...living in Indiana...and...being only about 1+ hour from Plainfield, I'm really sorry to not be able to go to the auction. (I finished up radiation treatments this past Wednesday, so I'm not back to my level of energy to drive there.) However, this could end up being an interesting sale.
I've been around Shelbys for quite a long time; just long enough, however, to recognize my lack of knowledge. Talking with Pete and others over the past several years has confirmed that.
Anyway, the individual actions taken in regard to Shane are wise moves, I believe, and I hope all goes well for those who have received these emails. Take care, Everyone, and keep us all updated on further developments!!!!!
Any one from this forum going to the sale? If anyone is going north near Fairmount on
I-69, let me know and I'll buy the coffee! Email = merrijoy@frontier.com

:noway: You have lots of time left Vern!

This guy can be followed to TX by using the time-tested leap frog pattern, parallel streets protocol.

And on an even happier note, our state of WI just permitted concealed carry :guns: and both houses passed a "Castle Law". "Do you feel lucky, punk?"

Please keep us informed and by all means, lock your doors:unsure:

There is a Mallory Rev Pol Mark 11 switch under the dash. Looks for sure that the car was used at the drags.

I have no dog in this fight but have talked to someone who has inspected the car. I have been told the mileage is most likely correct or close but would most likley need a complete resto. Prices are like anything at a auction. If two parties decide they want this it might go for more then it should. I was told that it spent most if not all of its life in Plainsfield In or the area. Anyone that hopefully would be bidding on the car should know enough to tell the major problem area. I was told it was solid but had some surface rust on bottom. Again I didnt see the vehicle but this is what I was told. Car was in storage for along time. Hope this helps, but I am in no way involved with this car or seen it just what I was told. Maybe the low miles is due to the dragstrip?

$235k. Nutty price. Auction will certify mileage at 9100.

That would be a very hefty price for the car. Hopefully, the right people are getting the money.

Truely amazing car! Just watched it sell in person. Probably none w that kinda mileage anywhere! Car had been driven, and raced at IRP but mileage was correct they had multiple forms verifying it. Probably best barn (ok in a really bad garage) find in the Rust belt!!

The story maybe -the car not so much. I trust Ed Meyers observations (World recognized authority and concours judge on Boss 429's /69/70 Shelby's ) that he relaid to me by phone this morning. Ed was inspecting the car for a bidder. Bob

And Ed's observations where from a distance on the car as the auction company had it roped off.

I think this thread has ran its course, Im closing it up.

    Best regards,
    Vern

Just read through it. Interesting but to me it sounds like "the so called experts" might have been wrong on this one. There was a lot of people there and this car was really well documented from many and from a small town it would be hard to believe it being untrue. Many raced at IRP back then.
