Great photo. Thanks for sharing. The cars are dirty from the LAX airport jet blast (note blast barriers behind on the right) and dirt that blows in from the Pacific. I am sure they were not washed until ready for shipment.

My opinion: Since the plant was so close to the ocean, and possible salt air, they were sprayed with a preservative (cosmoline?). Note the windows down about 2" on a couple of cars in the background.

Very cool picture. I wonder what number that car is, maybe #100? Can't tell for sure what the color of the car is.

    Hi,
It is great to see this "New" part of history. Thanks for posting.Any ideas on a date of this photo?I think production was in full swing, and most cars appear to be fairly complete. This looks like a dark colored G.T.500 and I would think it would be an understatement to say "the boys" are going to remember much.
    Very cool

looks like a late picture? Look close in the far left you can see an outboard headlight set up on one of the Shelbys. Late photo?

We had a guy at one of our WASAAC meetings a few months ago who was actually one of the kids in the photo, gave a nice talk about the photo shoot.

    Hello,

I can't tell for sure what color the car is either. Could be candy apple red, dark moss green, nightmist blue, maybe even black. With the young boys crawling all over the front end, I am wondering if the car is one that was not destined for immediate sale. Could it be a candy apple red GT500 production/engineering car? Maybe my own car number 0100......?

    Thanks,
    Eric

Based on the responses...Are we certain that this is car # 213 ?
This is based on what info? and can we put a date with it ?
Any idea who gets the credit for the photo?
    Thanks for your input

This is my backyard about a week after I win the Lotto. And, yeah, I would hire that ol' Crank to drive the cars and wash them.......

Awesome shot. Makes me wonder if one of those in the picture is my 500. Would have loved to be one of those kids...I'm right about there age. To bad I was on the east coast.

    Hello Patty,

I do not believe anyone knows for sure what car number is in the photo. SGB owns car number 0213, so that is why he stated it is 0213. Does he know for sure? I don't think so :D. I highly doubt it is 0213 :D.

I think it could be 0100 since it was an engineering and public relations car and not destined to be sold anytime soon. I do not think that Shelby would let the boys crawl all over a car that would soon be heading to a dealer or a private owner. My 2 cents on the subject.......

    Thanks,
    Eric

See the white tags about the 4th row in the background? Those might be the same numbers that have the car number on them from the assembly line photos from the photo a year or two ago showing the white 67's on the cover of....was it the Shelby American, or the 67 Shelby Assembly manual.

Now we need the FBI to enhance the photo of one of those tags.

Also: Since the car CS is driving has Magstars, this might be before the time of the shift to the aluminum ten spokes (middle of the production run), but, maybe not. There being his an assigned car to the ones awaiting shipping differential.

If you look at the corner of the windshield you'll see the small white box that is most likely the inventory control tag used on Engineering Vehicles. If this part of the photo could be seen in higher resolution you could probably identify the car.

    Hi all,
After further study-it appears this was a photograph taken in 1967.As most 67 fans realize,we do not have as many (or they have not surfaced yet)as the earlier or 65/66 Shelbys.
The white card inside the windshield would give us a ton of info.
The small sticker in the lower left corner could also be a great clue, the employees of Shelby had assigned parking passes, which this could be.
Is there any chance that the person who shared the story gave a clue as to when he was there as a young boy?Which one was he in the picture?
The haze on the cars may be a spray on wax type of protector to prevent fallout damage to the paint. We have some clues that this was used and it would make sense,as these appear to be finished cars waiting to be shipped out to dealers.Who is working on a time machine??Beam us back Scotty-P.D. out

    Hello,

Can you please ask him what color the car was and if he remembers any other details about the car?

    Thanks,
    Eric
