After striping SFM 5 017, the SFM stamping on the passenger side was found forward of what would be considered the "Norm". I have seen this on one other car, and know of another original 2 digit car where the owner has been unable to find his SFM stamping at all (and yes, it is a legit car)
I spoke with and had an email "conversation" with Howard recently about a time years ago when I watched him closely studying VIN tags and related my findings about the SFM issue to him. Howard has asked that I start this thread to determine where the passenger side stampings are on as many cars as possible.
If you have a 65 GT350, or know of one that you can get the info off of, kindly email me directly, please see Howard's email to me below for further info.

    Mike,

I think you have a good idea there to contact other early car owners to see where their SFM number is stamped. It might be a good idea to ask them to send you some photos:
    1. A close-up of the SFM stamping
    2. A farther away shot of the SFM stamping so you can see where it is on the fender apron
    3. A close-up of the Shelby serial number tag

    Howard

In addition, please include what level of originality you prescribe to the car, if any (original - unrestored, undergoing restoration, restored, etc.)
Please email any responses or questions to: Shelby6t5@aol.com

PLEASE use the Macro setting on your camera if possible.

    Thank you.

    Mike

    Mike,
Tried this but can't get clear shots.
Will try again tomorrow outside instead without flash.

Mike, can you please specify in between what points of reference your SFM numbers are.

    Best regards,

17's is very near to the front of the apron, above where the battery would be (if it were a front battery car.)

    5025 - sent you a PM

Anyone else who has a 65 please look @ the top post and email me what you have.

    Thanks!

    Mike

I sent you a picture of mine #396. You can see in the picture where the stamp is compared to the hole for the the shock. Did you get the picture?

Mine (5S259) is located right smack bang in the middle of the shock tower top section. Centralised very well, pretty much opposite where the shock tower pedestal sits.
