Hey guys, new to the forum and a new Shelby owner as well. I was at the SAAC sponsored open track at the Thunderbolt Raceway in NJ with my 2008 Shelby GT (what a blast by the way!) So anyway I was doing pretty good, even taking on the 500's and KR's with the turns and short straight-aways, but on my 3rd run I got toasted by this older Shelby GT-SC or GT-CS, or something like that. Anyway I'm guessing he had a supercharger option on that model and wanted to know that IF SO could I put one on mine so that next time it's the driver and not the car that comes out in front :). Hopefully one of you motor-heads out there can let me know and how much one would cost me (along with some better track tires, not the stock crap it came with). Thanks for all taking the time to help me!

    Michael

    Re: Shelby GT/SC?

Are you wanting to get the mod done at the factory, that is the only way the car can be a "GT-S/C". If so, i believe the avaiable superchargers from the factory on an 08 car are the Kenne Bell and the Paxton, maybe even still the Whipple but i am not sure.

Ive seen most recently getting the kick-ass kenne bell setup......a shelby gt with a kenne bell will eat any stock GT500 or GT500KR alive. If you really wanted to get the true track setup, take the car to shelby autos or an authoized mod shop and the sky is the limit, brake induction, bigger wheels and tires, the sc, guage pod, driving lights, deep draw hertz style hood, baer brakes..........trust me, no more getting owned by those pesky GT500s!

    Best Regards,
    Vern

Yes the SGT/SC KB will keep up with almost any Gt500 and leave them in the turns, I had it done by a shop that wasnt a certified mod shop amd I am very happy with the power it delivers, I track at willows springs and other local tracks in calif. and you will not belive the people who come over to see what the shelbyGT is all about, the poilshed Kenne Bell was around 6800. Installed and worth it, Rick

Thanks Guys, I guess my next step is to find an authorized mod factory near me, I'd hate to have to ship it and wait to get it back, it's just too much dang fun :)

What color was the car on the track? If it was black with decals over the front fenders that was a Whippled car and modified by Shelby in Las Vegas.

There were a couple of cars without the SC on the fender that were toasting many other cars but both also had Whipples. One was white and had black side window scoops that was the Shelby Automobile "white lightning" concept car. The other was black with gold lightweight race wheels.

When I was in Vegas for the Birthday Bash in January the same thing happened. The stock and slightly modified GT500's could not keep up. 3 things to think about. 1. Weight 2. the driver 3. suspension set up.

One small correction, they call that car the "White Rabbit" at the Las Vegas facility.

Let me know how it goes, Mike. I have been toying with this for a long time now. I just may have to hit the home equity account one more time, even if it means staying at the part time job for another year! Boy I hope I get a raise.
