Here is what was written back to me when i tried to contact him through ebay....

"Hey Vern, You're probably right. No where on the auction does it say "Original" The only people giving flack are the people from the Shelby forum. It's pissing me off. Like the're gonna buy it, not a chance. There's no reserve, it's the same price as the other manuals listed on ebay. And who are they to xxxxxxx dictate to me on how I word my auctions. I need to cool off. I'm not taking it out on you Vern"

When he wrote this, the item was at twenty dollars.....last time i checked, i repop doesnt run you 20, let alone 96!

What i am going to do is wait for the feedback from the buyer to come in for this item, give him the url to this thread. It can only be private until feedback is left.

WHat pisses me off the most is that the information that was given on this thread was, in the long haul, used against the common enthusiast!

BEST REGARDS TO THOSE ON THIS FORUM WHO ARE HONEST ABOUT WHAT THEY HAVE GOT!

Ah Shit, Looks Like My Plan Is Foiled, After Reading The Auction Description I Found That There Are No Returns Allowed.

That Is Very Interesting Isnt It?

Okay, all you ladies and smug self righteous old car show judges, "quit your bitch'in" you can now unwind your undergarments. I had a rather pleasant and enjoyable conversation with “George” and gave him the real scoop on the Manual. He knows it’s a reprint. He still wanted it. It cost him a grand total of $10.76 plus shipping.

After receiving all the inquiries from the auction, mostly from you folks, I thought to myself how this would play out. I wasn’t disappointed.

It’s not about the money, and I wasn’t going to rip anyone off. If anyone noticed, originally it wasn’t a “private” auction. I adjusted it so that no one would interfere. It was interesting to see how many of you squirm and stew on this forum.

Wow... who knew a car hobby could be full of so much drama!

I see a new reality TV show in the works...

I have to say that standing back and not being involved in this discussion until now, that if someone is selling a reproduction and knows it's a reproduction, they should present it as such. For the sake of making my point, let me ask this: at what point is full disclosure required? If someone has a '66 Shelby Clone and they sell it as a '66 GT350 and don't ever state an SFM number, but give the Ford VIN as 6R09KXXXXXX (say it doesn't match any true Shelby SFM number), are they presenting the car appropriately? Anyone who knows Shelby's would check with Howard, so it's okay, right? Wrong. I think we'd all agree that it wouldn't be okay. So at what point is it okay to intentionally leave something out?

    Just my 2 cents.

    Josh

I dont remember doing any 'bitchin' alls i remember doing is trying to prevent someone from getting screwed by someone who has clearly and deliberately misrepresented an item to make a quick buck.

As for the undergarments.....im not wearing any!:p:p:p:p:p:p

So, "George" decided that he didnt want to pay near 100 for the manual?.....oh, he wanted to pay 10.76 after hearing all the TRUE details?..........DOESNT SOUND TO ME LIKE OL GEORGE THOUGHT IT WAS A REPRINT THAT HE WAS BIDDING ON IN THE FIRST PLACE NOW DOES IT?........

Hell, but as your auction reads, this was the seller opportunity to get a "good deal"..........really?

All that aside, i guess i am mainly dissappointed because the information that was volunteered in both of these threads was ultimately used against an unassuming enthusiast. I mean "It also has that musty smell from age (not horrible)".....LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE READ MY POST ON THE PREVIOUS THREAD.

As for squirming and stewing, i am proud to say that shelbyforums is still the forum were such behavior is not accepted. But, if your idea of squirming and stewing is being honest and responsible, then i am glad that my squirming saved some unknowing guy 86.25.

And to support Josh's point, he is right in that NOTHING that a seller knows about an item should EVER be left out of a description.

Sorry i had to type this.

So, what's an original '66 GT350 owner's manual in really nice condition (for a 42 year old document) going for on the open market these days? I have jpeg's of the cover and centerfold posted in Photos under memorabilia and Collectibles.
