66 GT350, changing tranny fluid...

    what is recommended oil. Was told to use 15-40 or 20-50 Castrol GTX motor oil.
    Any thoughts?

    Edward... your post title says tranny fluid. You want 80/90 weight hypoid oil for the tranny. 20/50 is for the motor.

    A Ford mechanic that use to rebuild these trans is recommending motor oil for smoother shifting. I too would have thought to use 80/90 gear oil.

    Is 80/90 hypoid the same as 80/90 axel lube?

    wow did I miss that one!! try synthetic 85/90W in the Tranny.
