Hi i Have an original Shelby mustang that was made in July of 69 but was sold as a 70 mustang and i am having trouble figuring out how the space saver spare tire mounts. I was looking at NPD's parts book and they had some kind of hook and half circle bracket for the space saver inflator attached to it but the one that is welded to my car does not have that bracket it just has the hook. I bought this car from a second owner that was restoring the car but had to sell it so i bought the car taking apart it was just the shell and the parts were all in boxes. So i am not sure could someone please help, thanks.

Paul , a late build car like yours would typically have the SS brket like you pictured welded in. You can see the area on the trunk floor with the four outlined " L" corners were it is supposed to go. My suspicion is since you said work was being done is that a replacement trunk floor was installed. I couldn't tell without examining the area and the car. It does beg the question why in this case? A early 69 Shelby did not have the brket mounted but Ford stated to add them in April so my information indicates. The hook for the hold down goes down through the jack handle ,through the jack through the fabic disc and hooks under the loop in the space saver brket . The bottle is held in the craddle portion with a long spring (NPD sells). The regular mustang hook is unused.A earlier 69 Shelby used the reg hook and the bottle was loose under the spare. I hope the pictures help .FYI the black spray should be body color.Bob
