My dream car has always been a completely stock original or restored 1965 Shelby GT350. Since being bitten by the Snake bug in the 80's, I have yet ridden in a true 1965 Shelby GT350. When I acquired my 1968 Shelby GT500 in '87, I looked for 1965's for sale and they were "too far" out there (either by distance or price). Hind sight does't help today. I driven, ridden and owned many "fast" cars, but still want to "feel" the thrill of the 1965 GT350. There is nothing like the '65 in terms of the era they were produced. Sure, there's faster cars, more expensive cars and even rarer cars, but when you have a dream, it would be nice to see it come to reality. An offer to fulfill my dream quest will be rewarded by a similar ride in my '68 Shelby GT500 at the '09 Mustang Club of America's National in Indianapolis. Does anyone want to trade thrill rides (doesn't have to be track time or high speed runs, just a short 5 -10 mile cruise to hear and feel the sounds of the Shelby). Tool
I was in the same situation as you. I wanted a 65 and thought they were out of reach and like you in 1987 bought another Shelby. My purchase was a 67 GT500 but still a similar story. Good luck on your quest for the elusive magical ride.
If you will be in the Phoenix Az. area in the next 3 weeks for the Collector Car Auctions, I can give you a ride in my 65 Shelby. You're right, it's a great feeling, driving or riding in a 65 GT350. Please PM me.
