Hi, We were at the SAAC show in Fontana a few years back (the first one they did down there). One of the painters that originally worked for Shelby was down there and we got a chance to talk to him about my buddy's car. CSX2317. Tweety told us about doing the FIA flairs on the car as well as the point job he did that still looks pretty good today. It an intersting job, it looks dark blue until it gets in the sun then with the metal flakes it changes colors alittle. He remembered painting the car and said it was the only one like that he did. Sooooo.... Now I'm trying to see if anyone on the board know's Tweedy, I'd love to get this documented either on film or in a letter just to document the car's history. Check out Hemi in a Barn the sequal to Cobra in a barn, there's a great story on the car. Thanks in advance! Jason Cobrafixer@aol.com
Contact Bob Shaw... he maintains a contact list of prior employees of SAI. http://legendconnection.org/default.aspx Make a donation to the Donkey Fund...and I am sure Bob will put you in touch with Tweedy. I have pics of 2317..it is indeed a weird paint job.
There is a nice article on Tweety (Robert Aldridge) in SAAC's Shelby American magazine #75 on pages 45-47.
A couple of years ago, he was in the Clearwater, FL area...I met him a couple of times.... Great guy... Mark
