    Re: What are your favorites???

    Vern,

I guess I got so excited to post my list, I didn't carefully read your post. There are a few cars that I'd ad some clarification and details to.

    1. Daytona Coupe: CSX2287, just because it was the only American made body, and the windshield slope sets it apart from the others.
    2. GT350R - I know it's cliche, but I love the Essex Wire car. SFM5R098.
    3. GT350 - SFM5003, or any of the homologation cars.
    4. No clarification... love 'em all.
    5. 427 Comp Car: revise to 427 prototype. I agree with your choice of CSX2196, although I'd only heard it referred to as the fliptop before. Do you know the history behind "The Turd"? I'd love to hear it.
    6. Slabside: Black.
    7. '66 GT350: Saphire Blue, stripes, 4 spd.
    8. '66 GT350H: one of the 4 spd cars.
    9. '67 GT350: Brittany Blue, inboards, 4 spd, no frills
    10. '67 GT500: Again, I totally agree with you. Charley's car is THE '67 500.

Thanks for starting this thread... always fun to dream!

    Re: What are your favorites???

    1) my own 67 GT 350. Probably because I've owned it now almost 37 years, and it's an early model wierd car.
    2) The 67 GT 500 Supersnake
    3) 289 Cobra w/FIA race trim
    4) 65 GT 350 Drag car model
    5) 65 GT 350-R
    6) 289 Dragonsnake
    7) Lil Red, the only 67 GT 500 coupe
    8) any Daytona Cobra
    9) any 69/70 GT 500 sprtsroof in Hertz yellow, or Competiotion orange
    10) Shelby's 69 Boss 302 Trans/Am race car.

When the project was started by Ken Miles, the car quickly gained the shop name "the turd"
Also, after first driving the car, Ken Miles called it "like driving a bloody dragster on ice!"

I guess I´d be a pretty happy boy if the two I already have were here and not in the US

Cars that really stand out to me and would be natural choices for my "dream garage" ...

    * Littte Red - 67 Shelby ht prototype
    * One of the 67 Shelby ht racecars or Gary G´s 68 Trans Am racecar
    * One of the "CS found some leftover 65 frames" Cobras
    * The GT350R Rick Kopec used to race
    * a blue & gold Hertz GT350
    * a nice 67 GT350 SC

    Hello All,

    Here is my list:

    1. My own 1967 GT 500, the first production GT 500 built.
    2. P1015, Ken Miles' 1966 GT40 MKII.
    3. CSX 2299, the Daytona Coupe with the best competition record.
    4. CSX 2196, the 'flip-top" Cobra.
    5. CSX 3002, the first 427 comp Cobra.
    6. CSX 2431, Ken Miles' personal 289 comp and development Cobra.
    7. The 1967 GT 500 "Super Snake".
    8. The twin Paxton supercharged 427 Cobra "to end all Cobras".
    9. 5R002, the first GT 350 completed and raced.
    10. The 1967 Shelby "Terlingua" Trans Am coupes.

It is hard to keep the list at just 10 cars.

I'm easy. I'll settle for the late Dick Smith's 427 Cobra S/C #3035. The winningest Cobra of all time. B)

    Re: What are your favorites???

While I agree with most of the cars that already have been posted, and
even though not a Shelby, I would like to have the survivor Highland Green '68 390 Mustang Fastback that Steve McQueen drove in Bullitt. That's a nice piece of automotive history as well.
One of the 4 original '66 Shelby convertibles. (maybe).
    Jim Morrison's (of the Doors) 67 GT-500.

    Hello,

If I am not mistaken; isn't CSX 2473, the ex "Don Roberts" car, the COBRA with the best competition record of all time? I believe this to be the case.

    Best regards,
    Eric

Well I have been wrong before but here is Dick's race record for SCCA "A" Production. I do believe it is the winningest 427 according to what I have read & heard.

    1966 - won 6 SCCA races
1967 - won all 10 races & National SCCA Championship
1968 - won all but one race
    67-68 No. Pacific SCCA Champion
198mph top speed, 106mph average speed at Daytona '67
