    Ravenblack,

You can send private messages by clicking on the persons username. I don't think anyone on the forum wants to see the thread go south like it has started to.

Congrats on a great car, take the high the road.

    Re: barn find

Mike your are correct and i should have not replied on the thread.
as for my thoughts on the car , i would like to make it known to all
members on line that it is a pity the car is in australia and not usa
for the plain reason that my 2 eyes are noticing the unique parts slowly
as i learn more about this car , and that there are so many enthusiasts
in usa that have restored this model many of times that would notice
the variants on this car at an instance ,including the judges of concorse level it is no credit for me or the car to post things that are not verified becuase it may be misleading..
i will answer any questions presented with honesty.
this forum is of great help and informative like some others .
as for pictures what are you guys looking forward for me to post.

they appear to be Mfgr. no's in the Dash pad. I do not think they have any purpose to anyone other than the Maker. it may prove to be an original Dash pad at best.

    Re: barn find

are they common on most dashpads . being that this vehicle is a prototype
and the dashpad being one of the firt made for this model , you may be right it may be the manufactures no's , i thought most parst where made by fomoco .... and the numbers would be segnificant in the production of the prototype ....

    Re: barn find

I am not certain who made the dash pads. I doubt it was FORD. it seems too easy to have made by another company. remember, the Mustang was not the only car FORD produced that year!! as a matter of fact, it is almost a miracle they made a Shelby Mustang to compete with their own Boss and Mach 1 Mustangs.

    Re: barn find

Lets no forget this car was built Mid 1968 ,
can any other memebrs on the forum who own 69 Gt500 shelby
look under the dashpad and see if they can locate any numbers.
could be anywhere , mine found on passanger side above clock
on the lip curving under the dashpad ,
this car was also fitted with factory square base aerial ....

I have found Mustang build sheets folded into a 1" square and taped to the wiring harness behind the instument cluster. Hopefully it is there.

Re: barn find dash pad info

The assembly line dash pads for the 69/70 Shelby had a "UT" stamped into the underside of the dash pad which can be seen in the area above the clock .Those pads command a high price and are rarely seen on the secondary market because they wer only seen on early service parts . The dash pads with numbers were normally the later service replacement dash pads . I believe the UT stood for Utica. These are some of the fine details in a accurate concours restoration.
