    Greetings!

    I saw a 66 Shelby GT350 (#365) at a web site that sold for $225,000.00.

    Could you order the 65-66 with the fold down rear seat?
    I attached the interior pic of that car below.

    Thanks.

    Almost all '66 Shelbys came with the rear seat installed (a $50 option). Approximately 78 carryover cars (the 252, '65 cars that were made into '66's) recieved the rear package shelf; while the rest (174 units) recieved rear seats. For the remainder of '66 production (#253 on) almost all of them recieved rear seats. Only 17 units recieved the rear package shelf.

    shlby66,

    Thanks for your response.
    So, does that mean none of the 65s before the one's that were
    turned into 66s had the fold down reat seat?

    That's right. No '65 Shelbys had a back seat. To be legal for SCCA racing;
    they had to be two seaters ( sports car ) hence no back seat.

    Rudy,

    The 65 cars were poor sellers.. There were 65 cars for sale on dealer lots when 66's came out... People wanted the back seat they wanted automatics they wanted the cool 1/4 window.. I would guess that at least 1/2 of the 65 shelbys spent some part of thier past with 1/4 windows.. I have 1/4 windows in my 65 clone .. I think of them a real 65 windows because I got them from an original 65 owner who took them off his car. He had them installed in 1967... I'm sure there were 65 cars with back seats added to them.. Not by shelby but somewhere along the way.. Do it your way... just do it well

    Hi Rudy,

    He's right about them not selling well, when my Dad bought his (mine), he said there were 10 or 12 of them lined up on the lot...oy!

    If I understand it correctly, you could get a regular 65 with the back seat. My Dad knew some guys who bought a regular 65 to set up as a drag car and he bought the back seat off of them and put it in our car. It was our family car, he needed seating for 3 at the time.:)
