Has anyone heard of this car? I was at the Reno NV swap meet 4 weeks ago and a worn out black and gold GT350H caught my eye in the for sale area. Sign said CLONE and it had a shelby tag with 6s1834. The 3 was miss stamped and looked fake. Just curious what the story is. 20160804_110831.jpg

Not sure if it ever was there. I saw it in Reno.

The tag has been removed and replaced with incorrect rivet. According to the SAAC Shelby Registry, 6S1834 resides in Germany. It may now be back in the U.S. A check with the 1966 GT350 Registrar might shed some light.

The VIN tag also says "Shelby America, Inc." not "Shelby American, Inc.", missing the "n", so incorrect tag / plate as well.

There was a beater 66GT350 at the MCA show in Reno earlier this year. Looks like it might be the same. Had a large for sale sign on it and a mention that it was a tribute, copy, fake .......Never looked under the hood as I guessed that no one would use a Shelby tag and another cars VIN on it these days. Especially since they already fessed up about it not being a real one

Jeff, that was the car I saw. Big for sale sign with "clone".
Didn't look too close at it, thinking it wasnt worth the time. Looked real ratty. I took a pic of the tag because it had some 'patina' and maybe held a story. I obviously didn't look hard enough to catch those details.
Good eyes spotting the mis spelling and rivets. didn't even catch that....duh!!
Is the car a rebody or did they just pin the poor repop tag and use the serial# from the one in germany? Anyway, he was asking a healthy chunk.

Yes, it definitely has some patina! It's always good to share some pics and spread the word.
