While driving the oil pressure gauge loses all pressure and indicates zero, along with the audible alarm. Then at some point the pressure comes back. It may happen for a minute, or up to 5 minutes, it happens when the engine is cold or hot, it happens while cruising or idling?
There never has been any engine noise associated with lack of oil flow?
    1. The oil pressure sending unit has been replaced
    2. While the sending unit was removed the engine was started and no oil came out of the open sending unit hole?
    3. A different brand of oil filter was installed and it fills when the engine is started
    4. The oil was changed out
    Any solutions?

    This problem has been resolved.

We discovered the oil sump pickup clearance between the bottom of the oil pan was too close, not allowing the proper flow of oil. This must have happened at the factory during engine assembly. There are no dents in the oil pan that would have changed the clearance. The sump tube was either installed incorrectly or some how got bent at the factory?
