Ok fellow Gearheads, today in a warehouse I found a 1966 Fastback dressed like a GT350

I love Shelby's but I am not an expert and my question is, are there 2 VIN plates?
like one for Ford and one for Shelby?

I found the VIN that tells me its a 1966 Fastback with buckets, etc. but I was so excited that i did not bother to look for a Shelby VIN.
I am going to go back to look at the car but I want to know what I need to look for.

    Thanks everyone

Should be one VIN assigned per car, but there may be more than one VIN plate on car. Mine has a VIN plate driver side windshield (as required by law) and then on under the hood in front of engine bay.

Forget about a VIN on the top of the dash, that law was not in effect back in 1966.

We'll start with the very basics before we go any further.

What is the 5th digit of the Ford VIN located under the Shelby tag on the drivers front inner fender panel?

What is the 5th digit of the Ford VIN you found on the door?

Answer this simple question, and we can go from there

I need to go back to look for a Shelby tag

But the fifth digit on the Ford tag on the driver side door was a C.
    The whole VIN was: 6f09c335738

When I go back to check the car today I will go over all the bases to find the Shelby tag

You did not find a real Shelby, just a clone, sorry........However, for the right price, it will still make one heck of a nice car to tool around in
