sent to NY times Oct. 8th Correction for Sunday Oct. 7, 2012 article by Fred Heiler “Preserving Classics” Correction An article last Sunday about preserving classic cars mis-stated the number of Cobra Daytona coupes made. It was six Daytona coupes that the American firm, Shelby-American, built, not five. The cars did not “end European domination of the 24-hour (LeMans) race” as stated as they never won LeMans overall. They did, however, help Shelby to win the World Manufacturer’s Championship in 1965. The caption also had the misstated number. (In the original article, hey showed a picture of Dr. Simeone's coupe)
