it was not a running car. I don't even know if
it had a chassis. I think it was what is called
a "pushmobile," a sort of assemblage of parts
that looks like a car but could have no suspension or drive train.
Purely intended for auto show display.
Anyhow Ford had a charity auction sometime back where they
realized pushmobiles could be sold and they wouldn't have to worry
about many of them being completed into real cars because they were being bought as rolling sculpture.
So anyhow Ford did it again selling the GR-1. I think whoever bought it would be perfectly justified in putting this body onto a Cobra chassis and you'd have a running Cobra with a body designed by Ford.
I think Ford has to get back on the GR-1 trail because Chrysler is bringing out the Viper with a real interior this time and how can Chrysler have a hot two seater and not Ford? Picture of the GR-1 at http://www.cobra-ranch.com/

I think The GR-1 is a great looking car and would love to see it followed through by Ford.
