Before I got to Monterey I am trying to find going prices in case one sells at Monterey auctions and I have to compare. I found this car on Colin's Classics but the car was already sold. There's pictures on his site http://www.colinsclassicauto.com/detail.php?car=10
    and here's the description:

    Classic American Sports Car
Real 1962-1965 Leaf Spring 260 and 289 Cobras are truly legendary. They started what is the most storied and copied car of all time. Unfortunately, demand has far exceeded supply of good, original Cobras for many decades, as not only were they an extremely limited production car to begin with, but most were raced or similarly abused and have led less than sheltered lives!

The car pictured here is indeed one of the lucky ones. Chassis number CSX 2104, it is the 104th Cobra produced by Carroll Shelby out of a total production run of 538 over four years. This particular car is also the 29th car built with the 289 cubic inch "K-Code" small block Ford V-8, rather than the 260 cubic inch version the first 75 cars had. The 289 is regarded as a far superior powerplant, producing 271 horsepower with 312 ft./lbs. of torque. Even more interesting is that this car is also the first Cobra painted blue, and is documented as such in the Shelby American World Registry, Rinsey Mills' Original AC Ace and Cobra, and other Shelby reference books. As you know, Guardsman Blue has become the signature Cobra color over the years, and this car can lay claim to being the first car to leave the factory as such!

CSX 2104 has even more impressive history. Sold new to a young lady in Indiana, in 1973, she decided to ship 2104 to her home in Hawaii. At that time, it had but just 7,000 miles, confirmed by the original shipping documents from that time. 2104 was kept in the same woman's ownership from new until she passed away in 1987. In 1989 her husband sold 2104 to a gentleman in California. At this point, the one-owner Cobra had but just 9,000 miles from new!

Trading hands one more time before being show detailed and placed in a large collection of fine cars, 2104 has been cherished and well looked after for the last decade as the center piece of this collection. With just 9,200 miles from new as of today's date, it is without question one of the finest original and most significant 289 Cobras in existence. With wonderful features only present on such early cars like the absence of side body vents, the gorgeous art-deco inspired paddle locks on the hood, original Smiths gauges and Rotunda tachometer, the second version "Flat Head" or "Smiling" Cobra cloisonné emblems, and many other detail items, but with the benefit of the 289 CID solid lifter 271 HP motor, this is truly the best of both worlds.

Most importantly, this is a heavily documented car with every slip of paperwork from new, including the AC Cars invoice to Shelby American, the Shelby American invoice to the original selling dealer, the original sales contract from dealer to purchaser, the original application for title, a copy of the original title, shipping documents for both trips to and from Hawaii , registration receipts for every year from new until 1989, and documentation of every sale of the car since then. Additionally, it is pictured and its full history is chronicled in the 1997 Shelby Registry . Complete with the original owners manual, original top and weather equipment, and 100% original body and mechanical componentry including the engine, transmission, and all bolt on items right down to nearly impossible to get 2 blade cooling fan, original grease gun, and other such things, you would be hard pressed to find a better leaf spring Cobra that CSX 2104. Mr. Shelby has in fact inspected the car himself and autographed the dashboard. The one car that "Ol' Shel" himself has kept all of these years is CSX 2000, the first Cobra. Although originally supplied without any paint at all on its aluminum body, and subsequently painted just about every color under the sun, guess what color Carroll decided he wanted his personal 260 Cobra, the one that started it all, to be? Guardsman Blue!

Freshly serviced and concours detailed top to bottom, CSX 2104 is an absolutely unique and irreplaceable piece of automotive history. I can not recall ever seeing another 289 Cobra advertised for sale with such impeccable history, condition, and documentation. Equally ready for show competition, pleasure use, road rallies, or prominent display in any venue, CSX 2104 is a rare opportunity for the astute collector. It is a stunningly beautiful, low mileage car in flawless condition, and presents itself as an essentially new 1963 Cobra in all respects. Where would you find another? "
