Since that was a few years ago I was wondering if they were all sold and how many there were.

I heard that recent offering of 50th anniversary Cobra resulted in a full order book
but didn't catch how many the limited edition will be or how long delivery time will be
I presume this time there will be more with aluminum bodywork.

Got a sales figure for the 40th anniv. models--but still searching for opinions

    A website called http://www.shelby-cars.com/listing.php?id=50060
    had this listing.

    40th Anniversary Shelby Cobra

    Listing No.: 50060

    Model: 1965 Shelby Cobra 427

Price: SOLD, but we have others!

This aluminum body Shelby CSX4000 is one of 40 anniversary models built in 2005 to celebrate the introduction of the 427 Cobra in 1965. It is equipped with a Shelby FE aluminum block 427 and TKO600 five speed transmission. Included in the anniversary package are door map pockets, seat back pockets, glove box, floor mats, and foot box vents. Goodyear tires are mounted on Trigo wheels attached with three wing stainless knockoffs. Finished in "Shelby Anniversary Blue", these cars are sought after models in very limited supply.

says the 50th anniversary models were sold out in 48 hours. Here's the details:

If you’re thinking about scooping up one of those 50th anniversary Cobras from Shelby American, forget about it. You’re already too late.

Actually, the entire run of 50 of the small-block Shelby Cobras were sold out just 48 hours after the company announced their existence Jan. 21 at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Ariz. Both private buyers and dealers ordered their cars, so you still might get your chance when they come up for resale, undoubtedly at a steep markup.

All of the interiors are trimmed in wine-red leather and Wilton wool carpenting. (Photo: Shelby American) “The strong demand for these cars proves that the Shelby Cobra is still as desirable and sought after today as it was 50 years ago,” said John Luft, president of Shelby American. “People who didn’t have the opportunity to buy one in the 1960s jumped at the chance to own one of these very special collector’s edition Shelbys.

“Although the entire factory allocation has been spoken for, a few of these anniversary cars are still available from our Shelby Cobra dealers who seized the opportunity and bought multiple cars.”

The limited-edition Cobras celebrate Carroll Shelby’s original melding of a simple British sports car, the AC Ace, with a Ford V8. The famed result was an agile competition car that performed as well on the track as it did in appealing to drivers.

The small-block Cobras were produced through 1965, and in 1996, Carroll Shelby began producing it again as a street-version continuation that retained the original style, suspension and other features of the original.

The 50th anniversary models, all painted glossy black, add special badging, wine leather interiors, wire wheels and Wilton wool carpeting. The cars are sold completed except for the drive trains that customers must have installed.

Pricing for the anniversary Cobras started at $69,995 for fiberglass or $134,995 for an aluminum-bodied car.

From the last article it wasn't clear if they come with an engine installed. And I wonder if the wait will be in months or years?
