I used to have what I thought was the First Edition
with a white cover with a line drawing of Shelby walking toward a Cobra.
I think the publisher was ARCO with the publisher name Lyle Kenyon Engel or Engle associated with it. I thought Shelby gave me one when I met him at the auto show in Detroit when the Cobra Caravan came through town around '65 or '66 but when I looked the book up on the net they mention only a MBI version from 1974. Can anybody refresh my memory on when the first edition was published and by who?
Wish I could keep this stuff but, hey, I've moved maybe 40 times since '65

    Wally,

You may have not had good results considering the book is called "The Cobra Story".It was published by trident press in 1965 and featured the drawing on the front you speak of. It was re-released as "The Carroll Shelby Story" in 1967 in soft cover form. Then, in 74, it was re-re-released as "The Cobra Story" once again in hardcover format, but this one had a photograph of an FIA cobra on the front.
