Exhibition of cars highlighting career history of driver/manufacturer Carroll Shelby set to open

Carroll Shelby has become an icon of the automotive world.

As Sports Illustrated’s Driver of the Year in 1956 and 1957, Shelby has surpassed many milestones within the race-car industry. However, his latter career as an automotive builder is what has allowed his legacy to linger.

Guests are invited to view 18 cars representing the manufacturers and body styles that chronicle Shelby’s journey as a sports car manufacturer and performance tuner at the Antique Automobile Club of America’s “Shelby: Retrospective” exhibition.

The exhibition, including cars from all phases of Shelby’s career, will feature motorsports racing cars from the mid 1960s, 1970 Chrysler performance production cars such as the Shelby Charger and the Daytona Turbo and an imported two-seat AC Bristol with a Ford V8.

The exhibition will detail Shelby’s profession within the industry through a historical timeline equipped with graphics, period photographs and memorabilia.
