My 1965 289 hipo engine is internally balanced but I decided to keep the original harmonic balancer for appearance sake. The engine shop removed the internal hatchet head counter balance and added weld to the harmonic balancer. In doing so, they burned some of the rubber in the harmonic balancer. The engine runs perfectly but now I don't trust the balancer.

My question is this; Can the harmonic balancer's rubber be replaced?

Yes, it can . I think the Dampner Doctor is one. I have not ever used them but have only heard good reports about them. You can check the web or Hemmings "services offered" section for contact info. I hope this helps. Bob

Bob, thank you very much for that information, I really appreciate it. I'll definitely try to contact the Dampner Doctor. Thanks again.
