I just bought my brand new GT500 coupe two weeks ago and am using it as a daily driver. I live in Maryland and we get cold weather in the winter. I am not planning on driving the car in snow but I know that the stock tires are not rated for temps below 40 plus I would like to be prepared if I am out and get hit by some light snow. So my question is what would you recommend for a winter tire? I was also considering getting a used set of 18" rims from the convertible to give me more sidewall. Thoughts?
To be serious, I'd park it and drive something else. Given the gear ratios and the amount of torque, you are not going to have an easy time driving on ice and snow--even with winter tires. When I bought my '08, the dealer realized I was getting it as a daily driver. First thing they said, "Do not take it on snow...ever."
