Assuming your daily driver your new Shelby GT500 a lot and you get caught on the interstate in whiteout conditions next to the Goodyear F1 Super Car staggered set what would be your next best choice and size to run front and back have you encounter severe snow ice storm? Pirelli? Stock Sizes? or what? Regards Dan
Start with the Nitto NT 555's which is a good choice. Long wearing and not too expensive. The F1 Goodyear's are trash and expensive, only got 13000 on the rears under normal driving. Cheers Jefffafa
Generally not! Places like Discount Tire stock them and they include the rebuild kit free with the installation if required. One thing though, under no circumstances go to your Ford dealer to get them, even with their price matching sale going on. They will charge you full price for the rebuild kits, reseting the TPMS and provide no warranty on them. There aren't allot of choices on either Discount or Tire Rack site just to mention a couple, unless you are running 19" or 20" rims. Problem with 19's or 20's" with the additional rotating mass you will loose HP and you'll have to use a tuner to reset the tire size in the ECU so the speedometer will read correctly. 19" and 20" rims are good for show but not for the go! They also effect handling adversly with the stock GT500 suspension setup. So unless your ready to make some serious suspension modifications and fork out some of the green, it's not a good idea to change your current setup. Your best performance will come with the stock components and better tires beyond the F1's. The F1's were just a bad choice of tire for the GT500. They add to the rearend stepout problems and are expensive replacements. Anyway, check it out for yourself, there's allot of information available. Cheers Jeffafa
Thanks, I am going with the nitto 555 extreme performance tire. I can get 4 mounted and out th door at discount tire for $1021.00.
