My brother & I bought a 1966 Mustang and listed it on ebay. We are starting to think it may a Hertz Shelby. It doesn't have the tag on the fender. Is there a way to do get a title history on the car?

All 66' Shelbys were built at the San Jose assembly plant. That would be Plant code "R". Your vin does not indicate this. So, no, this is NOT a Shelby.

Fomoco destroyed all records before 1967. So there would be no records for the 1966 year and older.

It's also an A engine code car, and all Shelby's then were "K" codes.

Definitely not a Shelby for the reasons already mentioned. However it does appear to be a very early production 66.
