Re: 68 gt350 intake question,...quickie
Hey BG,
thanks for the info.. Guess I will have to look for a "CORBA" intake.. What should I pay for a super nice one? 400.00?.. Cevon... Date sent: Tue, 1 Mar 2005 11:04:12 -0600 Subject: Re: 68 gt350 intake question,...quickie Copies to: shelbymustang@carmemories.com To: cmclean@rbhnrc.usda.gov From: Robert Gaines <bgaines@kc.rr.com> The aluminum intake used on a 68 GT 350 from the factory or on the iron intake cars that were recalled, should have COBRA,not Ford or Shelby, those were over the counter parts . The intake should also have a S7MS engineering number and not a S2MS. Hope this helps BG On Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at 09:40 AM, Cevon Mclean wrote: > Hey guys, > Looks just like this one... > http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ViewItem&rd=1& > item=4529110987&category=34202 > > Cevon..\ > > > From: "Cevon Mclean" <cmclean@rbhnrc.usda.gov> > Organization: Nutrient Data Laboratory > To: shelbymustang@carmemories.com > Date sent: Tue, 1 Mar 2005 10:34:27 -0500 > Subject: 68 gt350 intake question,...quickie > Send reply to: cmclean@rbhnrc.usda.gov > Priority: normal > > Hey guys, > My 68 gt350 has a shelby type intake, alumium.. > But has "FORD" where it should say "SHELBY"... > Is this correct?..It looks old and orginal.. > Cevon... > > p.s I saw one on ebay, a while ago but no bids.... > > > > > |

Re: 68 gt350 intake question,...quickie
Cevon,
Important to remember that the intake was an update/recall item for 68. Many early cars came with cast iron intakes that were swapped out for the high performance aluminums. This meant that the dealer was responsible for the install IF...the customer even brought the car in. This also meant that an over the counter intake or two could have been installed at the time, especially at the smaller dealers. This may or may not relate to your particular car. all the best, Dan Belick ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cevon Mclean" <cmclean@rbhnrc.usda.gov> To: <shelbymustang@carmemories.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 01, 2005 9:52 AM Subject: Re: 68 gt350 intake question,...quickie > Hey BG, > thanks for the info.. > Guess I will have to look for a "CORBA" intake.. > What should I pay for a super nice one? 400.00?.. > Cevon... > > Date sent: Tue, 1 Mar 2005 11:04:12 -0600 > Subject: Re: 68 gt350 intake question,...quickie > Copies to: shelbymustang@carmemories.com > To: cmclean@rbhnrc.usda.gov > From: Robert Gaines <bgaines@kc.rr.com> > > The aluminum intake used on a 68 GT 350 from the factory or on the iron > intake cars that were recalled, should have COBRA,not Ford or Shelby, > those were over the counter parts .
