Re: My Shelby story
Dan,
I went to the car memories website and read the story on how you aquired your '68 GT350. It was a very good story. Thanks for sharing it. The first time I really noticed the Shelby Mustangs was when I turned 16. I saw an ad in a magazine. I think it was a car mag but it might have been Playboy. It was a '68 Shelby Cobra. You know the red ones. I had no money to buy one but I had pictures from the ads and stories. A year later I talked my parents into helping me get a car to drive to high school. We had moved to another town and I wanted to graduate from my old school ten miles away.. I found a '66 coupe. It was a stock 289 2 barrel 3 speed car. It was on that Mustang I got my motorhead degree. With the help of some friends I built it into a street racer. Fast forward about ten years. I still owned the coupe and decided it was time to do some restoration on it. I had always wanted a fastback Mustang so a buddy and I spent the summer of '82 looking for a respectable Fastback. I was going to drive the fastback while the coupe was under work. What we found was a '68 GT350 one owner that was hurting but definitely restorable in NW Ohio (Defiance). The owner had already sold it but a pocket full of $100 bills, an additional $500 offer and his wife allowed me to take it home. That was in '82. I still own it. A red '68 GT350. The full story of how I acquired the car is at CarMemories.com, http://www.carmemories.com/cgi-bin/v...perience_id=10 My Shelby Mustang and I have been a lot of places and done a lot of things.
