Serial number location?68shelby

Hey Guys..
Where is the motor serial number on a 68GT350?...
Is it supposed to match the vin?...
Also the trans number supposed to match also? where?..
My transmission is missing the riverted tag..has the RUG number
stamped into the small flat spot on the trans...

Thanks Mitchell, Its a 4sp...Should be the last 5 digits of the
Ford serial number on both?...not the 4 digit shelby number?...

It is on the top rear of the block where the bellhousing and block meet. It is on a flat surface that faces up towards the hood. The trans should also be numbered as well. One a 4 speed it should be on the bottom of the trans near the center. I don't remember about automatics.
