Since the cars started out as Mach I's with add/delete specs the carry over of the two digit paint code (including the blacked out hood) would not be a streach IMHO


Any special order paint car would have no paint code (blank) or just the single 5 as in the caase of a special order paint Mach (got one of those also)

The 5 is on all the cars Ive ever had, Id always assumed it was for the
flat black tailpanel. For instance. I had a T5 which was candy apple red
Ford code T. If it was special order the tag was blank, makes sense to me.
