One of the best Shelby movies. Red Line 7000. James Caan is in the passenger seat. Daytona Coupe is also in the movie.

What were they thinking??

Most women would rather vacuum the carpet in a bowling alley than sit in the passenger seat of a 65.. let alone drive one..

(nice picture)

Re: Cool old picture of a 65 GT350

Looks like a scene from "Red Line 7000" . Can anyone make out any headrest in the photo? The passenger looks a little like James Garner. But he was in Grand Prix!!

Re: Cool old picture of a 65 GT350

That's what i thought when I first saw it. I'll have to watch the movie to see if That is the scene I'm thinking of. It is a fun film to watch. Really corny dialogue but it is fun to see the cars!!

Re: Cool old picture of a 65 GT350

I have that movie on VHS and starts it just to listen to the 65
on the race track with Laura Devon (French actress) driving.
Poor poor movie though but the car pictures are great.
The car in the picture has head rests.

New Question on the picture. Is the front license plate a USMC plate?

Re: Cool old picture of a 65 GT350

Hi again,
In the article above, it's stated that 5010 (#10) was used
in the movie Red Line 7000. I don't believe that's correct.
The car in the movie doesn't have any side scoops or
65 Thunderbird tail lights. Personally I saw a car at the
Mustang celebration in Charlotte many years ago which was
claimed to be the movie car. Don't remember the number
but it could have been #7.
It had the hole in the dash for the T-handle and wire that
was used in the movie, probably to by pass the exhaust mufflers.
Anybody else saw that car?
This movie I saw in Sweden is the reason I got to love 65 Mustang GT350's and decided that I should own one in the near future but it took 23 years.

Re: Cool old picture of a 65 GT350

I work with the owner of 5S498 which is also listed in the Registry as possibly being the car in Redline 7000. He's not much of a club guy, in fact I don't even know anyone locally who has seen the car including me. He did buy from back east and confirmed it did come with the head rests and rumors about it being the movie car. I'll ask him if it has, or had, the dash cutout. Bo, I know you and I have discussed this before. Is it possible that was the car you saw in Charlotte?

Dave,
Yes, it could have been if it was shown at the
anniversary at Charlotte.

I think I might have added one young lady to the list back in 1967. My first date with the girl and she thinks my 66 GT350, s/n 1257 was a pretty cool car. A buddy of mine in a 67 GTO tri-power edged me on at a stoplight in Aurora Colorado and we " had a go of it". I don't remember who was ahead at the time, but I forgot to turn off the circulation to the heater (it was winter) and at 7000rpm in one of the first two gears, the heater core exploded sending antifreeze everywhere in the interior. She didn't seem impressed and that was my first and last date with the girl.

Also, I notice the Holiday Inn sign in the background welcoming race fans. My 67 yellow GT500 (my avatar) is setting in the parking lot of the Holiday Inn on race weekend at Riverside. Holiday Inn catered to the racing crowd back then and that's where we stayed for race weekends.
Mike

Re: Cool old picture of a 65 GT350

Dave,
I looked at the movie today and tried to see from the screen
what type of windshield wipers were on the car, early with the
special chromed bezel or the 66 type. My car has the 66 type
which means that 5S498 must have that type as well.
However, couldn't see for sure.
