63 3 Champions Cobra Poster - Orig.

Has anyone ever seen this poster before? I was wondering about the rarity and value. Any ideas?

this is a very rare poster made to celebrate the success of the cobra in 1963. Is it for sale?

Re: 63 3 Champions Cobra Poster - Orig.

Yes it is one of the rarest posters produced by Shelby American, they did roughly one style per year, this one was for 1963, it was designed by Peter Brock of the Daytona Coupe fame. The photo was taken on July 20-21, 1963 at Kent Wa,, the driver's in order are Dave McDonald,Bob Holbert and Ken Miles. McDonald won both races this weekend. They were all folded in forths, for shipping, price, who knows anymore, I would not want to speculate. Hi Vernon,I'll email you later (www.1965gt350mustang.com)

Actually they were folded in eighths to fit an 8 1/2 x 11 manilla envelope.

Price? In 1963 they were $1.00 advertised in various publications by SA.

Let's see, if a street 289 Cobra was $6000 in 1963 and is valued at $500,000 today then a $1.00 poster would be $83.33
Or if a works comp 289 that was $8,250 is now $2,500,000, that makes the $1.00 poster $300.

I like your calculations.

Looks like the poster is in very good condition.

Seems logical to me, can't be any more scarce than a factory comp 289 can it?

I am VERY INTERESTED in buying this poster. I would even provide you with a full-sized, fine art, Giclee (http://www.gicleeprint.net/abtGclee.shtm) print included with your sale price.

Feel free to email your price to info@racingdivision.com or call me at 310.968.3017

Regards,
Michael

Ah ha,A royal flush, well almost, there's your '63 Champ poster, '64 Sebring, '65 World Champ poster, '66 GT 350, the only one missing is the 427 Cobra poster Bartell was the '64-65-66-67 artist, like the logic on the pricing of the poster, but it doesn't fit here, not by a long shot.

Re: 63 3 Champions Cobra Poster - Orig.

Hard to speculate on the value of this poster. Last one I saw on Ebay sold last year at $275 but one fellow was selling the 65 World Champion post with his Ferrari racing posters on a website for $1800 so who knows? Pricing is certainly all over.
A question re: the posters; were all dealer posters folded like this one? This seems to be one way of telling the originals from repros?
Love to hear your comments.
Chris

I just wanted to share with you guys the finished product. I got the poster back today from my framer. He put it in an archival preservation mount with UV glass....the works! Came out awesome!
