Trans in my truck

Is starting to slip, just came out of no were, I adjusted the bands and changed the fuild and filter back in the fall and it had been fine, I've been told that these trans are junk, is there a better one to replace it with? maybe from a later model Dakota?

Re: Trans in my truck

The transmission in the Shelby Dakota is the same as was used with a V6 Dakota. Probably a newer transmission from a V8 Dakota would make a better replacement.

Re: Trans in my truck

I ran a cleaner threw the trans, one of those deals where you poor it in, run it 5 miles then change the fluid and filter, I thougt it was worth a try, well, its working better now then before! Hum, my luck, it'll fall out tomorrow for now its fine, I'll keep a eye on it, I found a guy to rebuild it if I need to, he did the 400 in my 66 Skylark and its perfect!
