Should ford resurrect the Ford two seat Cobra
I heard Ford Motor Company actually made a tiny profit the first quarter
so they have stopped the billions in annual losses. The profit was only $100 million but since it only cost a few million to get the entire Ford GT engineered and built I think they could afford to bring out a two seater Cobra. I know the rank and file shelbyistas didn't like the roadster because of the headlights and non trad grille cavity but if you look at the car again most of it is the Sixties updated 40 years to where it should be. The GR-1 coupe also could be considered or how about an open version of the coupe shape.I for one would like to see a new two seater, one engineered for production in 2009, unveiled while Shel is still alive to comment on it and maybe direct its final evolution |

Re: Should ford resurrect the Ford two seat Cobra
I think the GR-1 should get the big green light, however, as for a new "cobra", i dont think there should be a new one. My reason for this is i just dont think there is anyway that ford could possibly build a cobra that would live up to the original even slightly.
Best Regards, Vern

Re: Should ford resurrect the Ford two seat Cobra
Ford is far from out of the woods and I don't think that there is room in their "way forward" plan for cars like this. They have refocused on cars and dumped Jaguar, Aston Martin, and Land Rover. I hold very little hope for either of these cars especially since Ford does not currently produce a single car to meet the 2015 CAFE standards. A gas guzzling super car seems to be the farthest thing from their minds right now. That being said, I love the GR-1 and even the Cobra has grown on me over the years since I first saw the concept. I would love to see either one of these at a local dealership but, realistically, I don't see it happening.

Re: Should ford resurrect the Ford two seat Cobra
Other then work trucks - It's in Fords best interest to manufacture only vehicles that get at least 25-30+ MPG. At the very least, they owe it to their shareholders of which I am not one. The industry is changing forever.
