Little Red; are there pictures?
Everybody has seen pictures of the Green Hornet, the notchback
Shelby prototype now owned by Barrett Jackson, but what about the red notchback? I don't remember seeing pictures of that. Did that also have a vinyl roof? A big block? One or two paxtons? An automatic? Was it crushed for sure or will we see it magically re-appear? |

Re: Little Red; are there pictures?
here you go:
The 1st and 3rd picture are Little Red (mis-labeled), the middle picture is the green hornet. Little Red is dead, the Green Hornet lives, owned by craig jackson: http://bradbarnett.net/mustangs/concept/greenhornet/

Scroll to the bottom of the page after clicking on this link below and checkout the "California Special Commercial" with the girl in the bikini with spear fishing gear. This is funny. Every 21 year old guy had to buy one after seeing this:

Re: Little Red; are there pictures?
Hi to all! The best book on this subject is about to get better.Check out the California special website, and get your name on the list for the new book which is currently in the works. It will be the ultimate guide on these cars, and contains a registry as well. Now to answer your questions... Little red cannot re appear,it was destroyed. It had several different engine(s) over its lifetime, and was equipped with a black vinyl top.It may have been the only Q code coupe ever built by S A I . And it paved the way for the 1967 Shelby coupe produced in Mexico,(only the coupe body stlye was produced in Mexico, and approximately 200 cars were built as Shelbys & all were small blocks)as well as the 1968 California special. It had quite a reputation as you can imagine..a big block coupe with a blower and even the best tires of 1967 were no match for the torque output.Remember a stock S code 390 is rated @ 427 ft lbs. and 320 hp.No figures published on a paxton equipped car,we can only think LOTS!

Re: Little Red; are there pictures?
According to Dave Mathews: it had so many engines they left off the A/C compressor to make it easier to change the engines. Included engines were a single and a dual Paxton set up. Yes, it had a vinyl top, luxury interior, no roll bar Automatic trans. And, since it was about #0131, I'll bet it at first had an inboard grill, and likely a metal underlined hood.
I offered to Dave to pay for the Marti report, but, for some reason got shot down. |
