Did Bunkie Knudsen have it in for Shelby?

I never met Bunkie.
He's passed on for some years now
but I know he was the impetus behind the Boss 302 which kind of
swept the rug out from under the Shelby Mustang.
And also sponsored a mid-engined car that would have gone around Shelby.
But does anyone recall ever reading an interview where he voiced his opinion of Shelby's value to Ford?
Maybe there's a Bunkie Knudsen archive somewhere in Michigan?

Carroll knew Bunkie from his days at GM, when Carroll was working on a corvette with GM, this was before Carroll days at Ford. When Carroll joined Ford, Bunkie took a job at Ford as well. I here there was some interesting conversations..............lol
