Very cool movie trailer with Shelby

"Gone in 60 Seconds", "Knight Rider", "American Gangster and now "I'am Legend". Hollywood loves Shelbys.
Neat scene, I think you can hear the supercharger whine? Look close, I dont see a Shelby dash plaque when they show in car scenes...hmmmm

Gino's company did the stunts shots for that movie. They had a show on Speed last year showing the different cars used. I don't remember for sure but all the cars may not have been actual Shelby's. He is a member here, shelbyH1886 is his member name. Here is a link to the thread where he shares some movie car stories.

Boy, is this painful to watch...

I remember that thread. I wish Hollywood would use the older Shelby look more often. I forgot another movie, the newer "Dukes Of Hazards" They used a 67 Shelby look alike

I saw I Am Legend, last night. That short vid of the car is all you see of the Shelby. Doesn't explain why you don't see it again. Not a bad movie, but it seems to be a thinly veiled remake of Resident Evil.

This is what I love about this site......you guys notice everything...and thanks to Jim for pointing out the fact that there was no Shelby dash plaque on the dash.

Very simple,
As you can see all the action going on in the car, it was evident to me that Will Smith would be real busy driving, shifting, holding a rifle, trying to shoot, and worrying about the dog..lol so the alternative was done. Since at the time (according to the Ford engineer's I was in contact with) an automatic transmission did not exist to be able to take all the torque from a 500, so we opted for the next best thing...a GT500 look alike. I did exactly that, made a GT into a Shelby, but of course only visual. Although the exterior is Shelby, the only changes to the interior were the steering wheel, some dash vent covers, and the seats. Each shot which was taken from inside the car, it is the GT doing the work...but, as you see the car driving, or sliding, that was the real deal 500. So all the shots with Will Smith driving, were done in the GT. I have that car in my possession now, and most cannot tell the diff. , unless one notices the auto trans. SAAC had noted the vin number of that car for their records.

There probably was about an additional 4 or 5 minutes of the Shelby that was omitted, due to time constraints for the movie. In my opinion, the best was left on the lab's floor. The reason why he was in that Shelby and why he changes it for the Expedition was totally omitted. After talking to Francis the director, he said that it was starting to become to much of a Shelby thing, and was starting to take away from the original story which he was attempting to tell. I said to him....."and what's wrong with that" as we all got a good laugh about it. We can bring the horse to the well, but, we can't make him drink........

Hope you guys enjoy the inner workings......

Maybe the Bucket movie will make up for it

The new comedy about things to do before you kick the bucket
with jack Nicholson has a scene where one of the characters is in what looks like a '66 Shelby, red. So maybe that will make up for it, though this movie would be a big success to beat the Will Smith movie which topped all records for its begnning sales. So a little Shelby Mustang on screen in a blockbuster movie is better than none...

Another sweet looking Shelby in a movie. I saw the preview last night too.
Morgan Freeman plays a mechanic. One thing he wants to do before he dies is drive a car on a track..screen shot from the movie...

Gino:

Awesome job on that Mustang. I enjoyed the entire trailer showing the Shelby. I can understand where the director is coming from on his choice to shorten the clip some. That scene was very kewl! I personally found myself watching the car and all the angles used rather then what was going on with Will Smith and the animal hunt. It was like watching a Ford commercial for Shelby..lol. Francis was probably right about the scene taking away from the story but, on the other side i agree ,"whats wrong with that", haha. I guess it didnt hurt when it was released Friday and took box office records of 78mill!! Nice!!!

You did your part Gino in keeping my eyes glued to my screen to watch the car. Looked awesome..another GREAT JOB! I think you have one of the best jobs on the planet Taking applications?

And I'm sure you played a key role in "THE BUCKET LIST" Shelby look alike?

Jim
