garage floor epoxy???

Are garage floor epoxy worth the money? I want to put it down before I move my stuff in (new house). I heard it is great stuff and only cost 100 bucks for a 2 car garage. The only thing that worries me is that all the people that say it is “great stuff” aren’t really car people. So they don’t roll floor jacks around, use jack stands, or whatever else a mechanic would toss at it. I am also unsure of what brand to use. I heard some are REAL slippery when wet. I also use carb spray for cleaning parts off, mostly on the floor. Well that and gas hurt the epoxy? Any recommendations would be great!

Thanks

Re: garage floor epoxy???

Epoxy is great if you want to seal the floor but it does get slippery. If you are going to punish it with carb cleaner and gasoline, I doubt it will last long.

You may want to look into this product RaceDeck. It looks to be a good solution. I am planning on using it when I build a garage next year.

See AutoBarn. They sell it for $4.49 per tile (12"x12") with quantity discounts available.

Wink Re: garage floor epoxy???

You need to get out of the mindset that spraying itemds down on your garage floor is okay to do! Get a Pan from your wifes kitchen and do it in that. then drain the overspray runoff into a container and either re-use it or dispose of it properly. our ecology is about full of chemicals. just think. when you hose out your garage, it carries that spray and the greasse it removed right on out into your front yard. it then drains down into your ground water. Lets hope you do not use a well. But at the very least, it is affecting more things then you realize. If you paint your floor, add grit so it is non slip.
