Re: S7MS intake

That would be the S7MS intake on a 1968 302 engine

When was the build date? You may be able to get away with a cast iron intake if you are before mid may of 1968. I can tell you the S7MS's are like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Do you have the correct carb for the this intake. Is you car an automatic or 4 speed?

Re: S7MS intake

Who knows the story about the S7MS intakes with just the number cast in and no COBRA marking? Was this a Shelby Parts catalog item, or were some GT350's originally delivered with them?

You hit the nail on the head. In 1967 Shelby sold the name Cobra to Ford for a dollar and because of the transaction Shelby had to take Cobra off of all the items they sold through Shelby Accessories. They replaced Cobra with the Shelby name on all intakes, valve covers, oil pans etc.. The blank intake was probably a transition style. All of the assembly line intakes had Cobra on them. The possibility exists that if a 68 GT350 came back for the recall and a Cobra intake was not available a dealer might substitute a Shelby marked intake but he might not get reimbursed from Ford ether so it is doubtful. Any scenario like that would put the burden of proof with the owner at any concours event.
