New to the Forum

I've never had a Shelby, but did convert my '77 Mustang II to a slab side Cobra replica in 1981. It's being rebuilt now after all these years with a 347 stroker, Webers, Jag IRS, 5 speed, custom headers, & FIA Trigo wheels. This last mod has required fender flares to cover both front & rear wheels, so it'll be sort of a semi-competition look for an early Cobra 289. Hopefully, it will be completed by this fall. My 2006 Ford GT now has 27,000 mles on it. It Is a Wonderful car off & on the track. It recently dynoed at 571 rwhp, but I think a good tune will get it up to 625-650. Currently, it has a Whipple pulley, Diablo tune & Borla headers. I do some autocross, but it really isn't built for that. Lapping on BIR's track in Northern Minnesota with it's mile long straight, it can get up to 170 going into the banked Turn 1. I'll take it to the Northwoods SAAC meeting at Road America this August for some full track touring & autocross (no cones). This was a lot of fun last year until the rain cut it short. My most recent projects are a '73 Intermeccanica Italia 2-seater coupe with a 351C, 4 speed that should be ready in a week or two, and a '69 Intermeccanica Omega coupe with a 302 automatic (not for long). Of the 2, the Omega (basically same Ferrari-style body as the Italia) has the better body. Now, I know that in America that Omegas were only available as 289 Hi-Pos in 1966 from Holman & Moody (33 total), but the VIN plate definitely says Omega, so maybe it's a European model. All I know is that I want to start driving one of them yet this summer. Restoration seems to be taking forever since the Italians just didn't care about rust prevention.

Re: New to the Forum

Welcome,
I would love to see some pix of how you did the mods on the Mustang II to make it into a Cobra replica, and pix of the Italian's as well.

Re: New to the Forum

What part of Minnesota are you from? I work in Baxter, just a little south of Donnybrooke or BIR.
