Hello forum members.

I am new today so I am sending out a hello to Shelby owners and enthusiasts.

I bought my 67 GT350 in 1974 from a starving college student in South East Texas. Put it in storage the day I bought it and got busy--didn't see it for about 28 years. Took it out of storage and had it completely restored by June 2003. Have about 200 miles on it since restoration.

I was out at the Barrett Jackson auction in January and was amazed at the prices--been going for almost thirty years but this year really got my attention.

Question: Are the prices we saw real? One 350 I saw that is comparable to mine went for $300,000 if I recall. Another 500 went for $400,000 plus. Some were in the mid $100,000's.

Should have kept my 500 to go along with the 350 but sold it for some lake property.

Regards,

Bill

Re: New member 67 GT 350 owner

Bill...welcome.
Seems like prices have gone through the roof on anything Shelby. I sold my 1967 GT500 #899 shortly before this latest price escalation and I was hoping it was temporary so I could get back into one again some day but I'm afraid these prices are here to stay. I think they'll level out...but not get back to the more affordable prices they were a few years ago.
If I'd only had a crystal ball..............

I don't put a lot of faith in those B-J prices since....

it's basically a bunch of rich uninformed, intoxicated know-it-alls beating each other up with their bank accounts. If they had to sell what they bought, they would be taking a cash bath. Hope I haven't offended anyone. If I did please forgive me as I got carried away. Nevertheless, my opinion is probably shared by a lot of members of this forum.

I just had this conversation today with a Buyer who is looking for cars. In the real world of High end cars, the Best of the Best bring the Best Cash. they have impeccable Provenance and Documentation. they usually are original Sheetmetal and Drivetrain cars. their Restoration costs usually exceed $100,000 Dollars (Got to spend Money to Make Money) and to have your car on the Red Carpet with the cameras rolling and two Millionaires get in a High end Pissing match, you will see a Happy Owner wave goodbye to his Old Car and Hello to Big Money! with the IRS tapping him on the Shoulder and wanting to talk to him as the smile leaves his face when he is told Uncle Sam wants 15% of the Profits.... yes there are Dreamers and there is Reality.
