Hello from New Jersey

Wow, talk about anxiety just trying to say Hello!

Hi folks. My name is Jim Langendoen. I live in Whippany, NJ and have been born & bred here in "Jersey"

I have 2 66 GT-350's;

"Blue" (6S1801) who came into my life in 1969 and has seen a lot of daily driver duty and changes as we both ... ahem, matured. Currently he is in my garage getting a set of webers set up (sadly, I work slowly so this has been a long process). He underwent a restoration in 2000 after I went through some very tough personal times. The folks who rebuilt him did an outstanding job, but I realized that I really didn't want a showcar. So I changed out the exhaust for a freeflowing stainless X pipe setup and am getting the webers that I always wanted. I just couldn't be a purist - it's too much fun to tinker & drive.

My other car (6S2021) was brought up from Miami around '74 - a B production SCCA road racer - currently a rolling chassis in primer without the rollcage. This poor beast has been dragged everywhere I went, having spent time in fields and barns almost lost for storage fee's more than once. It turned out that racing is a rich man's sport and I had difficulty with that concept right up until there was no more money. But I have to say the joy of driver's schools at Bridgehampton and Lime Rock in it have left indelible memories for me. I would like very much to see what a Paxton would be like on this one.

I spent a fair amount of time "lurking" on your forum and you seem like a nice group to cast my lot in with.

Thanks.

Re: Hello from New Jersey

Welcome the Shelby Forums Jim. Sounds like you have a couple of great cars and it's nice to hear you were able to hold on to them throughout the years.

Please show us some photos when you have a chance to post them. Just ask if you need any help.
Randall

Welcome. Please post some photos. Love to see....

your cars. Sounds like life has mellowed you some. It does all of us. When we're young we think that we are going to kick the world's butt. However, the world throws haymakers too!!!

I had to laugh when I read your post. Yes, life learning has been a combination of mellowing and ducking quicker.

I actually did post 2 pics in the Member Galleries photo section - but only of Blue. The other car needs to come out from under it's cover and junk!

Nice to meet you! And thanks for the info on your Lehigh Valley club and the Blocker's event.

I had actually shown up at a couple NJ SAAC meetings when they were going on at Rutt's Hut on Tuesday night. Then life happened to me and a lot of other folks and the meetings went away. I actually just found a link to the "New Jersey Region Electronic Newsletter" and followed up with Bob Barranger who added me to their e-mailing list.

Same way this forum was a delight to find, just for it's "keeping in touch" capability.

Wow! Rutt's Hut! I remember those meetings....

Some of those guys are still around, though not active.

Glad you're still around!

Thanks for the welcome!

You'd have been more likely to see me driving around than at a show (I have only ever entered 3) - I guess I need to work on that <g>.
